An explanation about all of the daily uploads.

As most of you know, Google will create a unique design of their logo image on special days for google.com. I felt inspired one day and thanks to the vote of confidence from my wife I had begun a blog ( sketchyneill.blogspot.ca ) in which I have challenged myself to create a new and unique "Google Doodle" every day for one year. I research a special event for each day and then use that for the theme of my daily doodle. I just recently past 100 doodles and have gotten into a comfortable groove. I wanted to do something to get noticed but also to push myself to be creative everyday and flex my artistic muscles.

If any of you have a suggestion for an upcoming special day I am open to suggestion. Hope you have been enjoying the ride as much as I have.

A few years ago it used to be the tunes that kept me going.

From the Firefly soundtrack to random Eminem songs that I did not recognize (nor like that much as I never really cared for his work), I was pumping the treble and clef much like a 70's Disc Jockey (that's right, I had disco too).

In the last two years though, my ears have been on the frequency of my new addiction, podcasts!

I just find them so educational, funny, silly, entertaining and a source of never-ending FREE content that I don't have to find a torrent of to screw the record companies over.

Anywho, here are some suggestions to anyone who hasn't opened up to this new world of digital radio:

"TWIT" - a huge collection of tech podcasts by Leo Laporte and friends)

"Stuff you Should Know" - very random educational and interesting material

"The BigFanBoy Livecast" and it's spin-offs ("Tim's Latenight Lounge", "The Mighty Sabo...and Son!") - Basically a bunch of friends talk'n bout movies, comics and anything popculture

"Webcomics Weekly" - A very informative collection of information for anyone interested in web comics, online business or random art tips (the first 20 episodes are pretty good but the most recent have been more fluff-filled, not really anything useful)

Anywho, that's my rant for today,
Cheers!

Tis the Season

1 min read
Christmas approaches, as does the dreadful snowstorms, ice and freezing cold. I'm warm inside my apartment, enjoying PS CS4 and looking forward to the shopping season despite this excessive meltdown of the economy.

I finally saw Indiana Jones IV today, did some research online and just discovered the term "Nuked the fridge", which is really funny and a weird coincidence to me because I made a t-shirt design back before that movie even came out that was similar in context.

Check it out here (I never uploaded it to deviant art because I didn't really consider it anything special)

I guess Indy really is a "Raider of the Fridge" after all :)
